STRUCTURAL STEEL. DETAILED. FABRICATED. ERECTED.

One shop. One crew. From drawings to final bolt — we handle the steel.

Texas Structural Steel delivers structural steel services across the full project lifecycle — detailing and design, in-house shop fabrication, and field erection. Based in Dayton, TX, we work with general contractors, developers, and structural engineers on commercial, industrial, and institutional projects across Texas and five surrounding states. With 296+ projects completed over seven years, we know what GCs need: accurate submittals, steel that shows up ready to set, and an erection crew that works to your schedule.

Detailing & Design

Our detailing team produces complete shop drawing packages — shop drawings, erection drawings, connection details, and anchor bolt plans — modeled in SDS2/Tekla and packaged for AISC-compliant submittal. We coordinate directly with the engineer of record and GC through every review cycle, resolving RFIs before field work begins so nothing stalls on the job site. Design-assist services are also available from early schematic through permit.

Fabrication

Steel is fabricated in our own shop in Dayton, TX, under AWS D1.1 structural welding standards and AISC quality benchmarks. We self-perform cutting, fitting, welding, surface prep, and painting, and we coordinate material procurement and delivery sequencing directly to your erection schedule. Wide flange, HSS, angles, plates, embeds, platforms, catwalks — if it’s structural steel, we fabricate it.

Erection

Our erection partners set structural steel on commercial, industrial, and institutional job sites across the region — columns, beams, bar joists, metal decking, and miscellaneous iron. We coordinate directly with the GC superintendent to sequence steel against concrete, MEP, and envelope work. Safety programs run on every site, and our crews work to the iron’s schedule — not a revised one.

WHY TSS — How We Work

Detailing, fabrication, and erection under one roof means fewer coordination gaps, fewer RFI delays, and one point of contact from CDs to punch list. There is no handoff between a detailer in one state, a fabricator in another, and an erector who has never seen the drawings. We drew it, we built it, we set it.

When the same company that details the steel also fabricates it, shop drawings are written for the shop — not for a submittal cover sheet. Sequences are planned, connections are buildable, and material is ordered right the first time. That coordination shows up in fabrication lead times and field performance.

Our erection crews aren’t a subcontracted afterthought. We have strategic partnerships with steel erection companies. They work alongside the same project management team that ran the detailing and managed the shop schedule. When a field condition comes up, the answer comes from someone who has already seen the drawings and knows the steel.

We work with GCs running tight schedules on tilt-wall retail, two-story commercial, institutional academic buildings, and heavy industrial platforms. We understand how steel fits into a sequence with concrete pours, roofing packages, and MEP rough-in — and we build our delivery and erection plans around that reality.
